Wendy (Calisoff) Greenwald and Marcy (Calisoff) Friedman were selected as our Co-Alumni of the Week for our fourth installment!
Wendy and Marcy were selected because they were at Ramaquois forever! They left a lasting impact that last to this day and helped forge many of the traditions that still hold true to this day! Be sure to also read Marcy's Alumni of the Week Feature!
1. Who are you? Wendy (Calisoff) Greenwald
2. How old are you? 36 years old. Ancient in Rama years! November 10th.
3. Where did you live when you were at Ramaquois? New City
4. Were you a camper? I was a camper starting at Doves all the way up to CAPS. Didn’t miss a summer. I had so many wonderful experiences at camp. I remember learning swim from Ruth Altman, although I don’t know if that was a wonderful experience. Everyone was afraid of her. She would come on the bus in the afternoon and get you for your lesson. I remember when pools A and B were put in, and how my counselors stood on shift holding poles. I also remember special events on Friday such as Gold Rush and the Casino.
5. Were you a staff member? Yes! I worked at Ramaquois from 1988-2004. All in all I was at camp from 1976-2004! I was a counselor for Teenas, Debs, Varsity, Sr. Varsity, Sorority, and CAPS. I was a group leader for upper camp girls for a few years, and then made the switch to Boys side where I was the Warriors Group Leader.
(Group leaders are now called Division Leaders!)
6. Who was your favorite staff member(s)?
As a camper: Wendy Amsel, Lori Amsel, Paul Shapiro, Jerry Garfin, Sandy, Stu Hausfeld, Bonny Weiss.
As a staff member: Nikki Ehrlich and Melissa Pestrich- we are still close friends. Stacy Godfry, Nina Bloomstein, Glenn Mintz, Jon Levine, Adam Frisch, Brian Nurse, Jared Gelb, Scott Kaplan, Jana Shapiro, Sharon Reibel, Wendi Koeningsberg. Too many to mention. I had the best summer of my lives with these people.

7. Did you ever win Ramagames? Yes! Several times, but I wouldn’t be able to remember when. I do remember the Novelty Songs, but when they got too mean we had to stop singing them.
8. Did you ever win Song and Cheer? I won Song and Cheer a lot too. I remember a lot of skits and jewish jokes always got us a lot of votes.
9. What was your favorite activity? Cooking- great treats, arts and crafts, trips
10. What was your favorite lunch? And drink? Cold cut platter was my favorite, and red bug juice.
11. Did you go on any trips? I went on tons of trips. I remember hanging Marvin’s underwear from the flagpole at Club Getaway, and getting tortured on the bus by Hal and Marvin.
12. Your favorite Arthur and Natalie memory? Favorite memory of Arthur was during an administrator meeting. We had handed out sheets with all of his famous slogans on them. Whenever he said one of them, the person who had the sheet stood up. He got a kick out of that. I also remember the evening meeting we were required to go to in the cafeteria. It was about 100 degrees out, but we would get all dressed up and go out and party after the meeting.
Favorite memory of Natalie, well I don’t remember what happened on a trip, but she had me going that I was getting kicked out of camp, even though she was totally joking.
13. 10 words or less to describe your experience through the years at Camp? Experience of a lifetime. One I will never forget.
14. What did you learn or experience at Camp Ramaquois that prepared you for the rest of your life? School teaches you Math and English, what did we teach you?
Team work, fairness, and everlasting friendships.

17. College: University of Florida. Go Gators! 2008 National Champs baby! I have a bachelor degree in sociology, a masters degree in elementary education, and another masters degree in School Administration.
18. Where do you work? Where have you worked? I taught 2nd and 3rd grade in East Ramapo school district for 9 years. I am currently employed by Cobb County School District and teach second grade at Murdock Elementary School.

19. Family? Significant others of importance? Children?
My mom Gail worked at Ramaquois while I was there. My mom and dad, Stew live in Florida. My twin sister Marcy lives a mile down the road from me. I am married to Neil and we have an adorable son Brady, who is 22 months old.
I think I'm seeing double!
20. Have you been back to Camp since you left? If so what did you think?
No I haven’t. I would love to come back when it is in full swing.
21. Do you still have Ramaquois clothing?
I do not have any Ramaquois shirts left believe it or not! I got rid of all of my stuff when I moved to Atlanta.
22. Where do you see yourself in five years? Ten years? Twenty years? Five years- living in Marietta with 2 healthy kids, and a happy hubby. Ten years- Yikes! 46! Raising my kids Twenty Years? I hope to be retired maybe, living on a beach in Florida.
